The music video Last Friday Night by Katy Perry came out when I was in tenth grade. I remember being obsessed with it. It portrays Katy as an teenager in the 80's. She is supposed to look like a "geek" in the video, and goes over to her neighbors house to tell them to quiet down while they are having a party. Katy Perry's character ends up getting swept up in the whole scene, and making lots of decisions she later regrets. The idea is that she is going to continue to do this every weekend. Even though I knew this music video was ridiculous and not a real representation of teenage life it made me want to "experience" things while I was in high school. It gave me that idea that high school is the time where I can make mistakes and get away with them. |

Great post Arianna!
ReplyDeleteI remember having a AOL Instant Messenger as well, and now that I think about it, it was the first form of social media that I used too! Aim did help with my relationships as a teenager, I was able to connect with others who I did not see everyday and gave me the courage to speak to those who I was too shy to speak to in person. I also remember putting "Away" messages with song quotes or my "crushes" initials as a relationship status. Do you remember your username? I believe mine was LeenaBeena001 *laughs*
Great post!
-Leena
AIM messenger was also my first form of social media and I remember always wanting to be on it but my mom would always limit me. But every aspect of it always amazed me because I could put comments when I was away or message my friends or crush and it was just really cool at the time. To kinda go off of Leena, my user name was lexibabe1995...everyones was embarrassing
ReplyDeleteGreat Post! I remember having AIM. It was a great way to stay connected with my friends and some family members as a teenager growing up. To go off what Leena said, AIM did help me with my relationships. Its funny how she also mentioned about the "Away" Status.
